Nine candidates are elected at-large to the Boston City Council.

November 2, 1965

They are Katherine Craven, William Foley Jr., Peter Hines, Barry Hynes, Christopher Iannella, John Kerrigan, Frederick Langone, Patrick McDonough, Gabriel Piemonte. Piemonte is the top vote getter with 64,887. Turnout is 144,285 or 48.2%. Langone, who lives at 220 Hanover Street, is subsequently elected council president, a position which he later remarks, “It’s like being an admiral in the Swiss Navy.”
